25th anniversary of homosexual law reform in NZ

I cede the floor to the Member for Wellington Central.

But the real impact for me of the Bill is that it has allowed me to grow up and live my life freely. That is not to say that there is not still discrimination and stigma for gay people, because it is still very real for some people. But for me, sitting here as an MP, I have been able to pursue my dreams and goals, and live my life as I choose in part because of those people in Parliament and outside, who campaigned so hard 25 years ago. It is a curious twist that the fact that I can be an MP and not focus on my sexuality, but on the whole of my beliefs, values and policy is a result of all those who stood up for what was right. I, and many others, owe them all a huge debt of gratitude.

They go for a single, Stuart Broad throws a miss, and the team explodes with a glee the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the England Women’s team won the World Cup:

For the true cricket connoisseurs, full video of the last over is here.

I hate to keep posting, but OH MY GOD SQUEE

I mean, I’d just be happy due to the fact that it’s not vulgar sex terms (the search term two days previous is “samba dancers fucking”, HOPE YOU HAD FUN TRYING TO FIND THAT HERE, WEIRDOS) but ZOMG someone actually googled for me! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Somebody fetch the smelling salts and the fainting couch stat, I’m doing the total girly-giddy thing over here.

David Slack needs an award. Some kind of, “god-damn awesome, important-education-imparting, made-of-win parent” award.

We could content ourselves with the mall, and a Disney movie, but there is a beckoning world for an inquiring young mind to explore. Mary Margaret asked me about Parliament. How does it work? What do they do there all day? Uh huh. And what about court? How does that work? Well, you know, that’s easy, I said. We could go see for ourselves. Could we? Really? Cool!

Honourable mention: Simon Moore and the unknown female reporter, for being so damn cool.

The TV Couple of the Noughties

Lauredhel at Hoyden About Town posits a fascinating question – what TV couple defines our decade, the difficult-to-find-a-non-dodgy-nickname-for 00s?

My answers, a bit more fleshed out (and not in any particular order), follow – shouldn’t be any fear of spoilers as NZ TV? Not great with the screening-things-any-time-soon.
